Not all miniature projects need to be elaborate and expensive.
This is an example of a fun project that really didn't have a high cost to it.

Mediterranean Kitchen Roombox
by Lori Koutsouftikis

When I received jars of olives in a wooden box with a plexi-glass top, it sparked my imagination for a Mediterranean kitchen roombox.

I first decorated in blue and white, leaving the walls in the original wood color.  It was a simple look that fit my pocketbook at the time, but I always felt that it was missing some realistic warmth.

After a few years I redecorated in purple, teal, and white.  Using sand grit in white paint created the textured appearance of the walls.  I cut a space in the back of the olive box to insert a window.  Then I tiled the floor with individual tile and swapped the plain white table for an Old World Tile table I had made in a workshop.  I also added some more food (peppers on the table, a basket of grapes by the sink) in an attempt to make the scene look lived-in.
